Live 2003

Have you ever been at a party where all of your friends were dancing, or perhaps you saw one or more adults dancing? If you removed yourself from the picture entirely, the whole thing might look utterly ridiculous to you. However, there is something- some appeal when it comes to dancing that makes us want more. If you watch any of these music videos that are out nowadays, there is usually some form of dancing taking place. It makes you wonder how exactly music is tied into dancing. Does one need the other? What is the psychology of someone who loves to dance? And why is it that it only really seems acceptable (in certain situations) for females to dance over males.

For instance, you never hear of males getting together and talking about going to the dance clubs so that they can hang out and dance; and if males are having this conversation, then they are usually perceived by others as being gay. The same can be said of those males who choose to go to school to major in dance. It seems that in a lot of cases, dancing has been reserved as a strictly female-only sport. There are some situations, however, where it may be socially acceptable for heterosexual males to dance. For example, if a group of heterosexual males get together and want to go to a dance club, they would then have to qualify that statement by saying that they wanted to go to the dance club to "pick up girls" or to "grab a bite to eat and throw back a couple drinks". If they did not qualify the statement that they wanted to go to the dance club, then it would be interpreted by others (and perhaps misconstrued) that the males did, in fact, want to go to the dance club to dance.

Therein would lie the question about their sexuality. Perhaps, the whole dance craze has gotten out of control with the recent release of several dance shows on television. Perhaps there are parents out there who are getting nervous about their sons going out to clubs and getting into trouble. Whatever the reason, dancing nowadays has taken on greater significance when speaking about social norms and what is socially acceptable. There are plenty of reasons that we dance. Young people and old people alike are getting into the dancing groove. For some people, dancing is a form of comfort while for others, it can be a form of exercise or self expression. When you watch a male and female figure skater skating together, for example, it is a form of self-expression that is both athletic and artistic.

There is also scientific proof, which has informed us that dancing is beneficial to our health because it raises the level of our endorphins (those things that make us feel really good). So, the next time you're at a party, whether you're young or old, a guy or a girl, feel free to get up and get out there on the dance floor because it's good for you!

Greece has been responsible for framing civilization, as we know it today. If it were not for the ancient Greeks, their love for art, aesthetics, and fine living, as well as their profound mythology, humanity would probably never have been able to define culture. Greece is the inspiration behind much of modern language, beliefs, art, and architecture.

Greece has a long, rich history, which has given birth to a varied culture that continues to evolve to this day. The country?s geography left it isolated for much of its earlier existence. The distinctive Mediterranean climate has also contributed to the development of its culture and provided a unique setting for the rise of several great people. Greece was successively occupied by the Persians, the Romans, and the Turks, each leaving an imprint of its civilization on Greece. Greece has been at the center of global development and its customs and traditions are symbolic of the world as a whole.

The most significant aspect of Greek culture is its language. Modern English derives its roots, the script of its alphabet and its pronunciation key from Greek. Much of the dialects spoken in the country have been influenced by Latin, Arabic, and Spanish. Greek writers such as Homer, Aristotle, and Sappho continue to mold modern schools of philosophy and thought. Greek music and dance are vibrant and colorful representations of the region?s culture. The music varies tremendously from local folksongs to the Gregorian chants of the Greek Orthodox Church. The most popular type of music is the ?Laikimusiki?, which is comprised of ballads sung to traditional instruments like the ?Bouzoukis' (a small guitar). The Greek believe that people who can dance are gifts from the Gods and dance is a very essential component of Greek life. Traditional folklore forms have been blended with modern dramatization to give rise to dances such as Zorba and Greek dance-dramas called Chlorodrama.

Greek festivals are derived from a variety of sources from ancient traditions as well as modern Catholic influences. Carnivals and feasts are held to commemorate various saints and sanctified pagan deities. Amongst the modern celebrations, the most popular is the Rockwave Fest, which is a platform for all types of alternative music and theatre.

Things looking bleak?

When milestone days approach, a holiday, a birthday or deathday, do your emotions tumble downhill as you struggle with lonely, depressing efforts to hold back your feelings? Is the one you really want with someone else, or did he or she pass away, yet you hunger and yearn for whom is missing? Do you have to push away painful memories just to get through the day and that takes all your concentration and energy? The pain of heartbreak can be acute and overwhelming. Your grief keeps you focused on the pain when you think about them. Maybe after fifty years you only remember the day someone died or your first love's face as he left you. The grief blocks all the good memories that lie beneath waiting.

Would you like to try a quick fix for an enduring heartache?
You have memories of these people that are yours to enjoy, too. If you can just get past the grief, even temporarily, you might recapture lost moments of joy.

Take tonight to be alone and set the stage for memories of someone who was once precious, but is now missing. Light some candles, get out the worn photos, drop the fake smile from your face....finally, and allow yourself to really feel the pain. Step into the murky water of your tears and despair and wail and cry, for say, ten minutes. Then, take the next ten minutes to crank up some rhythmic music and express the pain physically. Boldly and wildly move your body in an expression of your hurt. Next, gradually change the dance to a joyful or silly one, like the chicken dance. The physical efforts release brain chemicals. Hopefully, no one is watching this cathartic gig but if someone is, explain that you dance for your health.

Grief held inside is poison. The act of grieving is about releasing the toxic thoughts and physical ramifications of those thoughts. Faking it, smiling when you could split apart in pain or pretending you do not care is not fooling your organs. Get the pent up rage, despair, guilt or envy out of you. Just talking about it or ignoring it will not release grief as well as the Brokenheart Stomp. The change from a grieving movement to a happier movement will send a powerful signal to the mind that you are trying to recover from grief.

Purging grief is a detox cleanse that allows you to recover joy and balance to your mind and gut. You NEVER have to stop feeling love and longing for what you miss, but you need to periodically fall back deeply into your sadness, feel terrible and then release it quickly just like a cramp in your foot. When the pain begins to build up, try shaking it out and then laugh loudly long before you sincerely feel happy. Our bodies respond to the emotion we act out, so act out a joyful dance.

Loving someone - even if it does not last - can become a source of experience and strength to treasure, if you learn to release the grief regularly. Grief can last years, but your nervous system needs a break frequently. The Heartbreak Stomp may shorten the pain by grieving the feelings out just a bit while you laugh at your antics. Take this opportunity to remember the good and bask for a bit in positive memories of having loved someone dearly. Eventually, the pain will go and the good memories will heal your heart and last forever.

Speed of Sound

Coldplay Return in 2005 with "Speed of Sound", the First Single from their Third Album "x&y". Includes Two Brilliant NON-LP B-sides: "Things I Don't Understand" and "Proof".
Customer Review: You need the single, even if you bought the album!
If you're a Coldplay fan, you were probably as excited as I was to hear the first outstanding single from X&Y. "Speed Of Sound" is as good as Coldplay gets, sounding like an updated version of "Clocks." What makes this release essential, though, are the b-sides. Sure, you may have already picked up the album, but you'll need "Things I Don't Understand" and "Proof." Both songs, without question, could have made the track list for X&Y. "Things I Don't Understand" is an uptempo jam, very reminiscent of New Order's "Regret." In fact, it's probably one of their strongest b-sides to date, along with "One I Love" from the "In My Place" single. According to Coldplay.com, the track was scheduled to be on X&Y, but it was pulled at the last minute. "Proof" is another ballad, and although it's not the best song they've ever recorded, it would probably be album material for most other bands. If you're new to collecting Coldplay singles, this is one of the best to start with. "Things I Don't Understand" alone makes it a worthy purchase. I would also recommend checking out the singles from A Rush Of Blood To The Head, which all have excellent b-sides.

Since ancient times women have been viewed, in many cultures, as mens inferiors physically, morally, and intellectually. Today, in western cultures, women enjoy more freedom and equality than ever before in history. Despite the gains made by women in recent years, particularly in the U.S., many women worldwide still find that their access to education, employment, healthcare and political influence are limited because of their gender. These discrepancies continue to exist because many societies still maintain centuries-old social and religious laws, customs, and traditions that have created barriers to education, jobs, and healthcare, as well as deprive women of their political and civil rights.

Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is usually defined as a form of discrimination in which sexual advances or requests for sexual favors constitute a condition of a persons employment or advancement in the workplace. It frequently occurs between a male and a female, often instigated by a male manager or other person in power. While many countries are starting to have laws against such discrimination, it is often reported that the laws are not enforced.
Sexual harassment occurs in workplaces worldwide, including the United States. Laws that specifically prohibit sexual harassment have been enacted in Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States, but many other countries are still in the process of studying the problem. There are two types of sexual harassment defined by U.S. law: quid pro quo and hostile environment. Quid pro quo means that an employee is asked to perform a sexual act in exchange for a job, promotion, or other perk. A hostile environment is described as one which contains situations, acts, or items that can inhibit the productivity of an employee, such as sexually suggestive language, behavior, or pictures.

Some strategies (as discussed in more detail below) for employees who experience sexual harassment include confronting the individual by informing him or her of the intrusive behavior and requesting that he or she stop it, notifying management or, should management be the offender, notifying the personnel department or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). (In the United States, call toll free 800-669-EEOC or see www.eeoc.gov to find your local office.) The EEOC will be able to provide you with written guidelines for determining what constitutes sexual harassment and how to deal with it.

Sexual Discrimination

The American businesswoman may unwittingly and unavoidably be party to conversations and actions that discriminate against women. For example, in Asian businesses it is natural to ask a female employee to serve tea, and a woman may be subjected to innocent questions about her age, marital status, and whether or not she has children. In Korea and Japan, protocol has men entering rooms and elevators ahead of women. In Europe, office talk tends to be more flirtatious and sexual in nature, sprinkled with many off-color jokes and puns. Derogatory statements about women in Germany are often expressed openly in the office, and reference to a womans physique is not uncommon in Italy and France. Other countries still view a woman who is alone as a prostitute since otherwise her husband, boyfriend or family would accompany her. American women often view excessive flattery by Latin Americans as derogatory because U.S. office policies would not tolerate such comments.

Some women report that suggestive sexual comments are sometimes used (consciously or unconsciously) as negotiating tools in an attempt to throw a woman off her guard. Women must be prepared for this and develop the ability to keep control and not show anger or other emotion. Some tactics women have used successfully to respond to such situations include: giving a polite verbal reprimand to remind your counterparts that you are conducting a business session; suggesting a break while stating the negotiation has obviously gotten off track; or ending the negotiation in its entirety to show absolute intolerance and disapproval.

Gender Issues in Europe

Most women in Europe are still battling the glass ceiling even more than women in the U.S. There are fewer women in upper management and more hierarchical issues with which to grapple. Furthermore, European women are still expected to handle all responsibilities relating to home and family. This interferes with their ability to hold down a job unless they are wealthy enough to have hired help at home. Shopping hours are still not convenient for working women and day care is often not available. Younger women do not have the role models of older women in the business world, so they must often work harder to establish credibility and to break into the upper ranks of business. Derogatory comments about women appear to be more accepted by the public. For example, in England the derogatory terms cow and bird are widely used, even on TV, and in films, to refer to women. In France and Italy it is not unusual for males to touch women inappropriately.

Gender Issues in Asia

Asian culture has traditionally placed more value on male offspring and on the male roles of ruler, protector, cultivator, and breadwinner. The male is out in the world, while the female remains at home to manage the household and raise the children. Asian males have consequently been in a dominant position over Asian women and have largely controlled their means of livelihood.

Centuries ago male philosophers, Chinas elite, developed precepts of behavior -- notably passivity and obedience -- that women were expected, or forced, to follow. Women were subordinated to their fathers, brothers, husbands, and even sons. Historically, marriages in Asia were arranged not for love, but for family connections. The bride usually lived under the domination of the husbands mother and frequently faced competition from secondary wives and concubines. Her husband was allowed to repudiate his wife, especially if she did not produce a male heir. If the husband died, the wife could not easily remarry. She had no economic independence, was frequently illiterate, and had no property rights. Infanticide limited the number of female children.

Today, Asian countries continue to be patriarchal societies with strong traditions. When a woman marries, she generally joins her husbands family, and her ties with her own family weaken. The couple either lives with the husbands family or, as is occurring more frequently, on its own. If there is a divorce, the father often gets custody of the children. Divorce is considered shameful and is rarely discussed. Divorce rates, which used to be very low in East Asia, are growing however, as women become more economically independent.

There is an old Chinese saying: Women are the moon reflecting the sunlight, meaning women reflect the glow of men. Young, educated East Asian women increasingly reject this old saying. They emphasize their individuality, independence, personal responsibility, hard work, and careers, even as they try to maintain their femininity. Yet the few recent studies of Asian women indicate that many still feel inferior to men and worry about managing a career and a family. Job discrimination is still practiced in Asia. Family connections are very important in obtaining desirable jobs. Stereotyping women as the weaker, less capable sex still prevails.

Gender Issues in Latin America

The concept of machismo is important in Mexico and other Latin American countries, although American businesswomen will encounter more macho attitudes in Mexico than in any other a part of Latin America. The word "macho" does not carry a negative connotation in Mexico, as it does in the U.S. For a Mexican, the word "macho" implies strength, valor, self-confidence and masculinity, which are all considered positive qualities. There is also an underlying assumption in the culture that men are supposed to be stronger, braver, wiser and more sexually knowledgeable than women. Displays of machismo include: showing courage in a bullring, risk-taking, taking part in bar room confrontations, and displaying sexual prowess by bragging about sexual conquests or by having a large family. To be macho also requires the repudiation of all characteristics considered feminine, such as unselfishness, kindness, frankness and truthfulness.
The proof of a mans maleness in this culture is his ability to completely dominate his wife and his children and to have sexual relations with any woman he desires. A double moral standard exists between the fidelity expectations placed upon males and females in Mexico and Latin America. A woman's primary obligation is to make a home and procreate; she is dedicated to a life of service and no infidelity on her part is tolerated. However, men who maintain mistresses are within their legal rights as long as they are discreet about their affairs. A man can frequently divorce his wife if she commits adultery, but the wife can only divorce her husband if the act took place in their home.

Macho men will often express an air of superiority when it comes to dealing with American women in business. They may be overly polite and attentive to a woman, but in a patronizing way. Machismo may be expressed in terms of canceled, forgotten, or ignored meetings, and other frustrations and delays. Businesswomen, especially when traveling alone, should expect a high likelihood of unwelcome sexual advances. Examples of this include: overly long eye contact, the pressing of legs under the table, and an overemphasis on how appealing a woman looks. Most businesswomen advise against entertaining a man alone. Instead, they suggest that a group be arranged. They also emphasize that a woman should establish herself as a businesswoman even at her hotel, and dress conservatively in business suits.

Strategies for Coping

It is important for you, your team, and your managers to understand the strategies you should pursue if you find yourself in a compromising situation. Managers should be well-versed on their responsibilities in cases where women have been harassed, and they should understand how to act in accordance with company policy and governing laws. It is important to realize, for example, that an executive team based in the home office in the United States is actually legally responsible for the actions of their employees worldwide, including in subsidiaries in foreign countries.
Working in the international arena can be challenging. Many foreign countries have no laws or regulations concerning sexual harassment, or they are not enforced, and as a result employees in many countries do not understand the American viewpoint. As a result, male managers in the U.S. who are unfamiliar with more traditional societies may avoid sending female staff members to represent their companies to these cultures, fearing that these businesswomen cannot be effective in male-oriented societies. This viewpoint, however, may be keeping these executives from using what is in fact their strongest asset, since womens perceived attributes -- being good listeners, mediators, and consensus builders -- are well-received in international business. Male managers only need to become knowledgeable about the situation in other countries and what their responsibilities are in the event of sexual harassment. They can then send their female staff members with confidence.

U.S. courts (see www.eeoc.gov) offer some legal remedies and suggestions for handling discrimination and harassment situations: The (U.S.) courts have established that corporations that assign a U.S. citizen to a post in a foreign country must treat that employee as if he or she were in the U.S., regardless of local customs and traditions. Recent Supreme Court cases suggest several legal/human resource strategies that can be used to prevent gender discrimination. The first is: to educate and prepare employees sent to work in different countries abroad. Should a dispute arise, arbitration or mediation is preferred over litigation. The best overall strategy is to develop and implement a well-conceived company policy that ensures gender equality (Cava, A. & Mayer, D., 1993).

Management Responsibility

The elimination of sexual harassment starts at home. If your company doesnt have a company policy on discrimination and sexual harassment at home, there will be little to back you up if you find yourself facing such situations in the international environment. Top management must therefore take a proactive role in eradicating it from the workplace. There are many good reasons for doing so. Sexual harassment can reduce employee productivity and morale, and consequently it can have a negative impact on a companys bottom line, as well as cost firms a great deal in lawsuits.
It is the responsibility of the executive staff to eliminate sexual harassment. Top management must instruct its staff that sexual harassment is illegal and will not be tolerated.. Issuing sexual harassment policies, scheduling open discussions, expressing disapproval, creating a path for resolution and complaint, and respecting individual privacy should all be part of the top management plan. A comfortable environment with open, company-wide communication is key to alleviating any inhibitions employees may have about discussing their experiences.

As a first step, a company needs a visible, comprehensive policy emphasizing the importance of appropriate behavior: harassment and social misconduct toward its employees will not be tolerated. This policy should also state the ramifications of any violations. Hard copies of the company policy should be distributed not only internally but also to customers and suppliers. A copy of the policy should be available to all employees and visibly posted in work and rest areas. The company should have training programs for its management staff and its employees on a regular basis.
If you are in management, you can play a key role. Do not overlook or refuse to acknowledge that problems can occur in other countries, because this will only help reinforce their acceptance. If one of your traveling staff is harassed, it will interfere with the productivity of your business dealings. Harassment also violates U.S. law. It is frustrating for an individual who has faced sexual harassment to work with or for staff who do not understand the seriousness of the offense, or travel with a manager who does not speak or act on behalf of employees.

Individual Responsibility

Prepare yourself for the possibility of encountering sexual harassment when you travel abroad. When you are visiting countries that are male-dominated and still have little awareness of womens rights, your actions may actually have a greater impact on foreign men than written policies. In these situations, men wont expect women to assert themselves, and if you strongly voice your disapproval of inappropriate behavior, these men will often back down. Also, most businessmen would not want to lose a business deal by offending someone.

Most women report that while their business days go smoothly, the after-hours socializing that occurs in some countries can become a challenge. It is still common, for example, for Asian men to go out drinking after work. While drinking, they feel more comfortable about voicing their inner feelings. If you are the lone woman in your group, you may become the target for questions that would not be asked during working hours. In Asia, drinking excuses what Americans may consider appallingly inappropriate behavior. While the American may remain upset if he or she feels anything untoward has occurred during an evening, the incident is generally ignored by the Asian participants the next day as they carry on with business as usual. In Latin America, women are often the targets of flattering comments about their appearance by Latin American men, sometimes to the point that it feels intrusive to the women.

Should you be subjected to what you feel is sexual harassment, remain calm and professional. This attitude will have much more impact than if you become upset or angry. In many cases men may have been trying to incite you or test your resilience. In most cases you can either respond with a calm statement of disapproval, or you can show your disapproval by remaining silent. If you are in a situation that has become particularly unpleasant, you can always leave.

If you are traveling overseas on business and have been accosted, you are still protected as an employee of an U.S. firm, and should take action in accordance with your firms sexual harassment policy. It is always best to report the incident rather than being passive and keeping it to yourself. This way, if the perpetrator is an employee of your firm, he can be corrected or reprimanded, and if he is employed by another firm, at least your executives will be aware of the issue when deciding whether to enter further business dealings with that company.

Be Prepared

If you are single, avoid talking about your personal lifestyle or dating, as these subjects can lead to uncomfortable conversations. In particular, do not discuss your marital situation if you are divorced or living with someone.

If you feel that a conversation is inappropriate, dont respond. Just change the subject.

Avoid situations where any unwanted intimacy may be initiated, such as dinners for two.

Be careful that your actions cannot be interpreted as being either aggressive or flirtatious.

If your international hosts insist on opening doors for you or holding your chair at the dining table, graciously allow them do so. Remember they are trying to respond appropriately when working with women.

Avoid eating or drinking alone in strange restaurants, since you may be viewed as a pick-up target. Ask your hotel concierge for restaurant recommendations.

Responding to Uncomfortable Questions

When you are asked a question you consider uncomfortable or inappropriate, use short, standard answers to discourage further questioning. For example, many women are asked their marital status, their age, and, if married, about dual careers. While these questions may be unusual, they are often more commonly asked in foreign countries as a form of interest about you, a woman who may be very different than women in their own country. You can answer these in a polite manner while suggesting that the questions are not appropriate by giving answers such as My career keeps me very busy, or I am younger than I look. Ignoring the question and changing the subject is a simple way of redirecting the conversation. If the questions are more direct and aggressive and sexual in nature, be assertive and answer, This is not an appropriate question to ask, or, if the questioner continues to be uncooperative, try to embarrass him by telling another group member about your discomfort. Silence can also be very effective.

Strategies for responding to uncomfortable questions also include:

You may be asked seemingly intrusive questions about your marital status and whether or not you have children. Prepare some stock answers or change the topic of conversation to one that is more comfortable for you.

You might be invited to a bar after dinner. Whether or not you want to attend is your choice. Its not impolite to say no, giving jet lag or business commitments such as faxes, e-mails, or phone calls as an excuse.

If your host exhibits inappropriate behavior, inform him that you are uncomfortable and that you want him to stop.

f you are traveling with a team, have other team members join you in expressing dissatisfaction with the situation. This will usually end the unwanted behavior, since to continue it will cause bad feelings.

If you are in a social setting that is becoming uncomfortable, inform your host that you are uncomfortable and would like to leave. Politely request that he call you a taxi. If he does not cooperate, ask the establishments staff to call one for you.

If no action is taken, get ready to leave and state the reasons you are leaving. There is no reason to stay in a situation that is uncomfortable for you.

An employee who desires to leave while his or her colleagues desire to stay should do so and not feel badly about breaking up the fun.

From the beginning of time, dance has been a societal activity. Dancing in groups was popular and dances were open, no close proximity touching of partners. In the nineteenth century, about 1880, a dance, the tango, emerged in Buenos Aires. It was born in the poor areas and brothels of the city and made its way gradually into the upper class homes of the rich. Argentina was a very rich country and many of its inhabitants had vacation homes in Paris and London. They took the tango with them when they went abroad.

The origin and meaning of the word tango appears to have come from an African word. Its translation by Europeans and others in the Americas was "a closed space where Negroes gather to dance" and then later the name of the dance.

The tango that was born in the brothels of Argentina had overt sexual undertones and many considered it vulgar. As it moved from class group to class group, the dance changed. The main ingredient of the dance, the connection between the two partners, did not change. It evolved into a more sensuous, acceptable form in society. If you watch ballroom dancing competitions, you will see the tango performed by the contestants. This is a diluted version of the dance.

Dancing itself is a romantic activity. When you dance, you are in close proximity of your partner. You move for and with each other. A truly romantic gift for Valentine Day is Argentine Tango lessons for the two of you. After you have learned the dance, create a romantic setting for the two of you:

  • Create an invitation for your loved one, inviting them to dinner and dance.
  • Purchase a CD of your favorite tango music.
  • Prepare a meal of their favorite food.
  • Add candles and flowers to the table.
  • Use your best china, silverware, and crystal.
  • Push back the furniture in the living room for dance space.
  • Eat your romantic dinner.
  • Dim the lights.
  • Work off your romantic dinner by dancing the Argentine Tango.
  • End your evening of romance in a way that suits the two of you.

The Argentine Tango is one of the most sensuous and romantic dances in the world. Each partner must concentrate and focus on the presence, the body, and the emotions of their partner. They must feel each other. The Argentine Tango is a dance in which the partners can express their desire and longing for each other.

What a truly wonderful romantic gift for Valentine Day or any time of the year.

That's right party people. If music is the food of love, then play on! Hyd knows how to party, and also knows its music. From lazy lounge to heart thumping electro techno, the DJs in clubs and pubs in Hyderabad spin it all. There's something for everyone. So if you're a music aficionado who knows the beat per minute of your favourite song, or just a regular party-hopper, you won't be disappointed.

But just to make it easier, we're giving you the lowdown on what type of music plays where; so you can pick and choose the party destination according to beats you want to swing to. Remember though, that a club may decide to play one or more of the genres below, so this is in no way a restrictive list. It's more of a guide to the popular joints in Hyd to dance to the different kinds of music we all love.

A- Alternative...Alternative Rock is not very groovy to dance to, so the only time you may hear bands like the Foo Fighters or Linkin Park play is if the place is playing Worldspace! But if you're really keen, pubs like 10 Downing Street (10 D) MAY just play some Alt rock, but ONLY during afternoons!

B- Bhangra...Bhangra has gone global and is a definite fixture in most club DJ sets. One can jump to Punjabi MC on Bollywood Nites in Bottles & Chimney (B &C), 10 D, Myst and sometimes even Ahala.

B-Bollywood...Get one thing straight. Bollywood remixes rock and we love them. So they're always going to be there. Almost every happening party will have some cool Bollywood remixes thrown in for some good ol' Desi flavor. Specialists are B&C and Ahala, especially on dedicated Bollywood nights.

C- Club...Club music is currently the rage of the Hyderabad night life. From sexy remixes of Justin Timberlake to hardcore Club legends like Benny Benassi, clubs such as Touch pump up the revelers with club tracks. Ahala is another cool place to check out some vibrant sounds.

D-Dance...Dance and Club are pretty similar, so the clubs that play the former would play Dance as well. Wednesday nights in Touch, Ahala, F Bar as well as other places such as Soul, Myst and Firangi Paani would be a good choice.

E-Electro...B&C and Liquids are known to play Techno every once in a while. But Electro is as popular as Dance/Club. Touch and Ahala also play Electro, but only a few electro tracks would be squeezed in, so don't count on a complete night of Electro!

Customer Review: Fantastic
This DVD along with Live and Off the Record are simply fantastic. Shakira is the whole package from the voice of an Angel to a body...well, that's out of this world!! How could you not love this goddess!!!!!
Customer Review: Bought it for the price. Ended up liking it.
It was available for less than fifteen so I picked it up. I liked Shakira's first major Spanish album before her international success. I hadn't really listened to her newer stuff. When I put it in I was pleasantly surprised. The visuals are great and the sound is even better. To be honest I do skip a few songs whenever I watch it but I still consider it a good purchase for the price.

"Night and Day" was written by Cole Porter for the 1932 Broadway musical, "The Gay Divorce," starring Fred Astaire. It was the last Broadway show for Astaire and the last show that he performed with his sister, Adele.

In 1934 Hollywood produced a film version of the Broadway musical, retitled, "The Gay Divorcee." The Hays Office, Hollywoods self-censorship body, determined that the original title was too controversial. The film starred Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in their first leading roles together.

"Night and Day" was the only Cole Porter musical number used from the Broadway production. As a footnote, one of the films big production numbers, "The Continental," by Conrad and Magidson, won the Academy Award for Best Song that year.

In 1946 a film was made about Cole Porters life, called "Night and Day." The biography, starring Cary Grant as a heroic and heterosexual Cole Porter, was not accurate in detail or character, but Porter did not object.

Cole Porter was born in Indiana in 1891 to parents who were wealthy. He received an extensive musical education, learning the piano and the violin by age six. His favorite of the two was the piano which he practiced two hours daily. By age ten he was writing words and music to original songs, and by age seventeen he published his first song.

Porter also received an impressive academic education which carried him through Yale and into Harvard Law School and the Harvard School of Music. While at Yale, Porter became the president of the Glee Club and a cheer leader, and, among the 300 songs he wrote while at Yale, he wrote two football fight songs that are still played today. Despite being the roommate of Dean Acheson, the future Secretary of State under President Truman, Porter dropped out of Harvard Law School to continue with his music education.

After World War I, Porter moved to Europe where he met and married Linda Lee Thomas, a beautiful and rich divorcee and a descendant of the Lees of Virginia. Their relationship was a loving, supportive, lifelong partnership. Cole Porter was gay and had numerous male interests which Linda had agreed to allow. However, the marriage was at times unstable when Porters gay interests threatened the couples carefully maintained social appearances.

Following their marriage in 1919 in Paris, the Porters lived an extravagant lifestyle in Europe through the 1920s. Their palatial home in Paris had floor to ceiling mirrors and zebra skin upholstery. Later, they moved into a famous palace in Venice where their lush parties included fifty gondoliers, circus acrobats, and a ballet company. They also built a night club outside their palace which accommodated 100 guests.

Back in New York, Porters first few contributions to Broadway musicals were poorly received. However, by the end of the 1920s Porter gained recognition, and through the 1930s and 1940s he was one of the brightest stars on Broadway. He worked excessively and tirelessly on his musical productions and spent time in both New York and Hollywood.

In 1937 a terrible horse riding accident crushed both of Porters legs. As the story goes, while waiting for hours for help to arrive he composed the lyrics to a verse of his song, "At Long Last Love." The accident left him crippled and in pain for the rest of his life. He underwent more than 30 leg operations until his right leg was finally amputated in 1958. Following his leg amputation, Cole Porter dropped out of music production until his death in 1964.

Porter said that the stimulus for the ballad, "Night and Day," was his memory of hearing distant tom toms while cruising down the Nile River in Egypt.

"Night and Day" was sung by Fred Astaire to Ginger Rogers in the film, "The Gay Divorcee." The romantic lyrics of Cole Porter and the lovely dance of Astaire and Rogers combine to create one of Hollywoods most memorable moments.

Here are the Cole Porter lyrics to "Night and Day."

Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom

When the jungle shadows fall

Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock

As it stands against the wall

Like the drip drip drip of the raindrops

When the summer shower is through

So a voice within me keeps repeating you, you, you

Night and day, you are the one

Only you beneath the moon or under the sun

Whether near to me, or far

It's no matter darling where you are

I think of you day and night

Night and day, why is it so

That this longing for you follows wherever I go

In the roaring traffic's boom

In the silence of my lonely room

I think of you day and night

Night and day, under the hide of me

There's an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me

And this torment won't be through

Until you let me spend my life making love to you

Day and night, night and day

Marvel Studios has released their second film of 2008, and while not as highly anticipated as Iron Man, there is a lot of buzz surround The Incredible Hulk.

Marvel has decided to reboot the Hulk franchise, ignoring Ang Lee's Hulk movie which was not well received at all. This time around, Louis Leterrier (The Transporter 1 and 2) is at the helm, and there is much more action as a result.

This film is very much an homage to the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferigno TV series from the 1980s. Many images in the film are straight out of the show, as well as the Hulk's origin. Even the theme music makes an appearance. But there are also a lot of comic book references as well, including the Mr. Green/Mr. Blue exchange from Bruce Jones' "Return of the Monster" storyline, and cameos by some familiar comic characters.

Banner is in hiding after his first Hulk-out, where he nearly killed his girlfriend, Betty, and her father, General Thunderbolt Ross. But he's slipped up, and now the General is closing in, which gives the movie a Fugitive-type feel. To help hunt Banner down, General Ross assembles a team of specialists, including Emil Blonksy, a life-long soldier who loves a challenge. After Blonsky sees the Hulk first hand, he wants to do whatever it takes to bring him down, including being injected with the Super Soldier Serum (hinting at the upcoming Captain America film). This gives him enhanced strength and speed, but it's not enough for Blonsky. So he's infused with some of Banner's blood and becomes the Abomination, and monster bigger and badder than the Hulk. This sets up the film's final confrontation between the two monsters.

All of the roles from the first film have been recast, with Edward Norton playing Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and William Hurt as General Thunderbolt Ross. Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs) plays the Emil Blonsky/The Abomination. Marvel has done it again with the casting, and everyone plays their roles perfectly. Norton really shines as Banner, and it's great that he gets a chance to strut his stuff in an action/comic book movie.

The Hulk looks like he's supposed to this time - Nine feet tall, green and mean. The film makers were able to capture more emotion in this Hulk which should make him more acceptable as a CGI character. The CGI Hulk didn't bother me at all, but the Abomination was a bit much. He really looks nothing like his comic book counterpart, and more like a mini-Godzilla crossed with something out of a horror movie.

The best parts of the film are when Banner is on the run. That's not to say that the Hulk scenes were bad - most of them weren't - but one of the things that made the Hulk TV show work well was the Fugitive aspect of it, and it works well here, too.

The weakest part of the movie is the big Hulk/Abomination battle. Maybe it was the CGI, maybe it was that seeing two monsters beat the tar out of each other can only go so far, but it just didn't work for me. The final scene of the movie also seemed forced and out of place. I think that it would have worked better a little earlier than where it showed up. Despite that, it's a great scene for the fans.

Since I'm a movie score nut, I've got to deduct points again for the music in the film. Much like Iron Man, the music has no themes for any of the characters, nothing that you walk away from the film humming, (except a few bars from the Hulk TV show). It would be nice to see a recognizable name composing music for future Marvel films, because so far, they've been pretty lame.

Overall, The Incredible Hulk is far superior to the Ang Lee Hulk movie. It's faster paced, more engaging, and just plain fun. Fans of the TV show will like it, fans of the comic books will like it, and even casual fans should enjoy it.

I'm giving the Incredible Hulk a B rating.

Thanks for reading.
